Dr. Linda Miller, Nevada State Historian U.S. Daughters of 1812 and former Friends of the Fort Board VP, presents an 1812 History Award from Las Vegas Chapter #461 to Carson Fehner at the U.S. Daughters of 1812 Las Vegas Chapter #461 meeting on January 25 at the Marie Calendar's on Sahara in Las Vegas. Dr. Sondra Cosgrove, a former colleague of Dr. Miller's at College of Southern Nevada, was also presented with the Nevada State Award. The award is given for excellence in any field of history. Carson was awarded for his specialization in media in his park interpretation. He previously worked in Alaska and at the Jimmy Carter Historical Site in Georgia. He is currently an interpreter at the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park. Dr. Cosgrove teaches history at the College of Southern Nevada and UNLV and is President of the League of Women Voters of Southern Nevada. Dr. Cosgrove received the award for her innovations in different fields of history teaching. Each received a pin and a certificate. Dr. Miller is a previous winner of the award.
